A visit from a friend and a remodeling problem converged in 1994 to start me on a path I invite you to join.
My friend, the proud owner of a hand-held GPS receiver, offered to tell me where I was and proceeded to determine the lat/lon of my home's location. Later, while restoring a floor previously covered with layers of flooring, I discovered a problem-a 3" hole centered in the doorway.
I pondered how to remedy the problem. It came to me... create a conversation piece--a brass disk with my coordinates and "YOU ARE HERE."
Later, in response to a compliment on the disk, I heard myself saying, "I think someone could make a business of telling people where in the world they are." "Where did that come from?" I thought! Once spoken, the idea wouldn't let go of me.
Before long, I was producing GEOMARK(tm) Location Markers. It was a short step to the next good idea to come from that serendipitous moment--pewter gifts fashioned after elevation marks at some of America's (and the world's) favorite places.
